Contact: irethInfo: I knit. A LOT. My plurk half knitting and half talking about rp. I love and adore horror, zombies more than anything. The story telling device that a good author can make them and how the 'real enemy was the humans we met along the way' trope. Have you ever watched a movie, or read a book, and the ending is mostly sad and depressing but it's still open-ended enough to leave room for more? And asked yourself - this is the WORST possible ending, MAKE A CHOICE! No one likes this! Well, I'm the person who loves those kinds of endings!
The Darkling /Aleksander Morozova
Canon: Shadow and Bone note on name In-game, he will call himself Kirigan. He had faked his own death so many times by now, it's a wonder he even remember his real one. Age: 500+, honestly he has no idea and lost count a long time ago Permissions: Link Info: Wiki Tzarist Russia with a fantasy spin. He is the protagonist. An ancient Shadow Summoner who wants to take over the power in Ravka (Russia) and bring safety and peace to his people. He has magic (called Small Science) and he wants to protect all the other magical people in the world - while ruling everyone.
400 years ago he created a Shadow Fold, and made the volcra (monsters) that live in it, from soldiers and innocent bystanders. Trying to go in to the Fold, will bring these volcra out and they murder / eat everyone they can get their claws on.
Since then, he's tried to gain more power, and to find a Sun Summoner. His balance. When he finds her, shenanigans and murder happens and he enslaves her by forcing an amplifying collar around her neck. The Sun Summoner does not take this well, and rebels- casting off his control of her powers and throws him in to the Fold where he believes he was devoured by his own creations. Soulmate(s): There is no belief in souls in his world, and he doesn't believe in emotions. So, no. Shadow: Since the Darkling's main fear is being left alone / being forever alone, his shadow will prey on this feeling. The soul-crushing abandonment issues that he has and his own reluctance to seem 'weak'. Being weak is being ruled by emotions of any kind and might manifest by lashing out, grand displays of emotions in public and a general feeling of being totally and utterly alone. Plotting: This is not at all helpful, but I want it all! Friends (ha!) and enemies are all very welcome! He's superficially nice to most people at first, but will try to use any and all people who might trust in him even a little bit. Visuals:
hi! this is my insane grishaverse side talking (i also play nikolai (ravkas) outside of nightfell), but i'd love to have some cr with the darkling Just To See what might happen with laurent here! if you're down for some negative or difficult cr, laurent is a difficult baby who generally distrusts men with power (but also distrusts everyone in general) and he's also a cold bitchy prince who's been targeted by his uncle since his youth, so he's very used to people trying to kill him and he's lived a life of isolation and refused to allow himself to get close to anyone. basically maybe these two lonely bitches can talk sometime :D
I think I've tagged your Nikolai on a meme once... a memory that brings nothing but joy. You know what? Being careful of powerful men is just good sense and YES, bring me cold, bitchy prince who is as emotionally as constipated as this guy!
per the soulidarity post, all they gotta do is go to one of their home worlds (invited) and bc they already have a strong bond, if they even accidentally touched a tether object it'd be enough, so maybe aleksander could invite alina into his and she touches it without considering it????
i think she'd be reluctant to invite him into hers (keramzin) but i also feel like i'd really enjoy him picking up a lil mal figurine and being all 👿 about it so if he could maybe push her about it like YOU HAVE TO CONFRONT THIS THING or sth and then they go together to hers that might also work
throws spaghetti at the wall!!! random brainstorming!!!
Well... since his home is going to be a mini-version of the Fold, complete with ruins of his home with Luda in it, the Grisha ruin, a copy of his rooms at the Little Palace, but torn and burnt-looking. Just a mish-mash of rooms, connected like something from Silent Hill the final chapter and held together by Being Older Then Dirt and horse shit.
But you know what? If she even hints at asking, he'd take her in a heartbeat. Sorry about that, I really am. He's an idiot, and the books did not do much to dim that view of him. All that talk about them already being connected (which was amplified by the antlers, the sea serpent and the nichevo'ya bite- but it was there from the beginning. Alina could feel his emotions when they kissed that first time, his resentment and want) and I want her in his horrible home, touching his stuff!
BUT I also want him in hers, touching a little Mal statue and being overly emotional about it and jealous.
i lOVE the ugliness of his home world and i definitely want to get to see the character moment of him choosing to show that to her (too late, obviously, baghra has already spilled the beans, but since she's Hiding That it can still wind up being him choosing to reveal it) — if we want to save that for letting some tension develop around what he will and won't tell her if he thinks he can get away with her being ignorant still, i think we can def start with him nudging to see hers and then grabbing the mal figure all fussy and jealous about it?
Crap! She doesn't know- or, he doesn't know that she knows and Alina is playing that perfectly btw. So perfect. YES, him going to her place seems like the better option, allowing him to find some way to spin his own world in to something less... horrible?
I mean, he doesn't really lie to her outright a lot, but he does spin the narrative to make himself look better.
HER PLACE and touching Mal, because 'omg! Scandalized' about it and also, yes. Insanely jealous. I mean, he picks a fist-fight just to show off, which was just his mistake, really.
ok we'll see if we can spin the soulmates app thread in the direction of nudging at showing off her home / challenging her to confront the fact that it upset her.

Even though, them not being soulmates would be hilarious, I am trash for them.
