(jonas can relate, though not on the same scale. his misdemeanours weren't military-related, just relationship-related or illegal. it's like the army drafts, he thinks. people used to lie on their applications, too, right?)

It's this whole thing where I live that you've gotta be 18 to join up. They used to hand out flyers at people's schools when recruitment was really ramping up, but now I don't think they're allowed. smth about serving the country with honour was cool to ppl a few decades ago.
But romance vs realism. The reality of things is always worse than ppl expect.
