( he shoots set a look, pointed and edging on irritable, and he makes a noise, a groan of discontent that sits somewhere between unsurprised and unimpressed. payment, because of course. he doubts it's generosity — though his experiences with the ennead at large are minimal compared to his experiences with khonshu, generosity has never been a running theme.

this time, then, marc does sigh. he's tired of this shit and it's easier, simpler when he has someone or something to punch. to take his frustrations out on, and he knows sterman would have a thing or two to say about that. he's not really sure what, other than it would probably be something he wouldn't like to hear. )

I'm already indebted to one god. I'm not really interested in being indebted to another.

( the shadowlands are different to anywhere else marc can recall spending time, and the answer set had given — I died — has done nothing to explain why here of all places. marc glances up at the moons, crimson, and thinks of blood. he wonders if it's deliberate. he can guess as to reasons why he's here, but set? not so much, not given the mishmash of people — creatures — he's already seen in the shadowlands, even in such a relatively short span of time. )

You were freed by Odin and Thor of Asgard. You fought. ( a beat and a shrug. ) The details aren't anything I'm overly familiar with. ( asgard's affairs have, ordinarily, been something marc's been happy to stay out of. it didn't fit with his mission, his duty, and asgard had warriors all of its own. that they were now the imprisoners of khonshu was—

—well, it was what khonshu deserved. estranged father and son. not anything new, either. )
You discovered Khonshu was on Earth, ( as a part of moon knight, when he'd been with the avengers. it's not a relevant fact, not given that this set doesn't recognise marc. ) We fought, you lost. The last time I saw you, you were in the Overvoid.

—He'd imprisoned you. ( he adds, fixing his gaze on set, careful and anticipatory. )
